Dr. Tricia Witte
Dr. Tricia Witte (pronounced "witty") earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arkansas. She completed a predoctoral internship on the Trauma Track at the Medical University of South Carolina funded by a training grant and is now a licensed psychologist in the state of Alabama. She is currently an Associate Professor of Human Development and Family Studies at The University of Alabama.
Dr. Witte’s areas of academic, research, and clinical interests include trauma, dating violence, sexual assault, substance use, and addiction. Dr. Witte runs the Prevention of Violence and Substance Use Research Lab (PVS) which is housed in the Judy Bonner Child Development Center. She is on the Executive Council of the Center for Substance Use Research and Related Conditions and a faculty affiliate of the Center for Youth Development and Intervention.
Dr. Witte serves on the Editorial Boards for (1) the Journal of Interpersonal Violence and (2) the Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment, and Trauma. She is also on the Board of Directors for (1) a drug prevention agency called READY (Resources, Education, and Advocacy for Drug-Free Youth), and (2) a substance use disorder treatment facility called Phoenix House. She is currently funded by 4 federal grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration.
Dr. Witte is also the Program Coordinator for the Addiction and Recovery program, which is an undergraduate academic program that she helped develop (see website, video, student success story).
